Stargate Atlantis- Ronon/Keller
TIMELINE: Takes place two years after season 4
SUMMARY: Ronon has a question for Jen.

Close to my Heart

             Jen slowly awoke.  It was early morning and sunlight had just started to filter through the tall windows, reaching Jen’s eyes.  She felt warm and safe in the arms of the man she had been sharing her bed and life with for the last two years.  Ronon was lying on his back with Jen snuggled into his chest.  Jen glanced up towards Ronon’s face only to find his gorgeous brown eyes staring back at her.

 

“Good morning,” Ronon mumbled against Jen’s hair, placing a kiss on the top of her head.

 

“Yeah…This is the life,” she sighed.

 

Ronon slowly sat up, as to not jostle Jen, bringing her with him.  Still holding Jen loosely in his arms, Ronon tilted her chin up to look into her beautiful eyes.  Jen looked at him quizzically.  “Uh…I’ve been discussing some things with Sheppard lately.”

 

“Oh…like what?”

 

“You,” now Jen was really intrigued, “I love you and these last couple years have been some of the greatest in my life.”

 

Jen smiled, “Me too.”

 

“So…Wanna get hitched?”

 

Jen laughed, “Sheppard’s words?”

 

“How’d you know?” he snickered, “But in all seriousness, I’ve been wanting to ask you this for a while now.  Will you marry me Jennifer?”  Jen leaned up and planted a passionate kiss on his lips.  Ronon pulled back when the need for air forced him.  “I’ll take that as a yes.”

 

“Yes,” Jen confirmed giving him a quick peck on the lips.

 

Moving across the bed, Ronon opened the nightstand and revealed a beautiful necklace made with what looked like thin strands of golden leather woven together.  “I know on Earth you would normally get a ring, but we did it a little differently on Sateda.  I made this for you and want you to wear it with as much pride as you’d wear a ring.”

 

“It’s perfect Ronon,” she leaned forward and Ronon placed the necklace over her head.  Fingering the necklace gently she continued, “I love it so much more than any ring you could get me.”

 

“Yeah?” Ronon grinned.

 

Jen laid her head on his shoulder while still holding her necklace.  “This I can wear close to my heart and while I wear it, know your love will protect me.”

 

“Yeah…But there is one thing we have to figure out before the wedding.”

 

“What’s that?”

 

“What kind of buffet and cake to get,” he answered getting a pillow slammed into his face.  Turning towards Jen he found her sporting her pillow and a goofy grin.  Grabbing his own pillow, he retorted continuing their pillow fight both shrieking with laughter that could be heard down the hall.

 

Sheppard was on his way to ask Keller and Ronon if they wanted to grab some breakfast, when he heard laughter coming from their quarters.  ‘You go big buy,’ he thought continuing towards the commissary.
